After Switzerland and Brittany, France, I end my month of August in Amsterdam, attending the Embedded Linux Conference Europe and the Yocto Project Developer Day, having the occasion to meet people I only work or interact with by mail or IRC. It's always a bit difficult to find the right balance between socializing and not being overwhelmed by this drastic change of life rythm.
Having lived in Amsterdam 11 years earlier for 6 months, this album is a bit less about discovering a new city but more artsy than usual.
The weather ends up being typical of Amsterdam: sunny, windy, showers, sun again.
I still discover a new park, Amstelpark, with its small train (Amsteltrein), its Japanese garden and the Riekermolen windmill.
We visit Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, the botanical garden, with its greenhouses and gardens. It's pretty nice, but too warm during Summer. There's one butterfly greenhouse where one can observe pupae, some even moving a bit!
I spend the rest of the stay wandering around and take the night train back to Vienna, happy at the idea to be home after a month traveling.
